Westwind School of Aeronautics Currently Operates a Fleet of 25 Aircraft and 3 Flight Simulators

Aircraft 

Cessna 172

Westwind uses Cessna 172 aircraft for a large portion of our flight training.  We have a fleet of 19 Cessna 172 aircraft, most of which are newer aircraft built between 2000 and 2006.  Four of our Cessna 172 aircraft are equipped with the Garmin G1000 Glass Cockpit.

Cessna T182T

Westwind has a New Cessna T182T available for rental.  This turbo-charged aircraft is well equipped with autopilot, XM Satellite Weather and Radio, and the Garmin G1000 Glass Cockpit.

Piper Arrow

For our complex training, we utilize a fleet of 2 Piper Arrows.  These aircraft were both built in 2000, and offer our students an excellent aircraft to become proficient in aircraft with both retractable gear and a constant speed propeller.

Piper Seminole

For our Multi-Engine students, we utilize a fleet of 2 Piper Seminole aircraft.  Our Seminoles offer an excellent training aircraft to ensure our students become proficient in Multi-Engine operations.

Diamond Twin Star

We have added a Diamond Twin Star to our fleet.  This  advanced twin engine aircraft offer the G1000 glass cockpits, advanced single lever FADEC controls, and a simple to use control stick in place of the traditional yoke.

Cessna SkyCatcher

We have ordered 3 Cessna SkyCatcher Light Sport Aircraft which should arrive in 2009.  These newly designed 2 seat aircraft will offer a low cost option for flight training and aircraft rental.  The Cessna SkyCatcher is equipped with a Garmin G300 glass Cockpit and a simple to use control stick in place of the traditional yoke.

Flight Simulators

Boeing 737-800

Our Boeing 737 Flight Simulator is used in our Airline Crew Orientation Program to help prepare our graduates for when they begin flying a large, transport category aircraft in a typical airline environment.

Frasca Mentor

Our new Frasca Mentor/G1000 Simulator is used in out Instrument course to train students on using all the skill required for the instrument rating.  This simulator uses an actual Garmin G1000 cockpit so you will become very proficient in the operation of this avionics package.
