Degree Programs

Most regional airlines require pilot candidates to have an Associate Degree and most major airlines require a Bachelor Degree. One of the best ways for students to fulfill this degree requirement is through our extended on-line campus programs.

The following schools are recommended by Westwind:

   Mountain State University
Utah Valley State College (UVSC)
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU)

When you perform your flight training at a Cessna Pilot Center like Westwind, you can also earn credit toward a university degree - at no additional charge!

An agreement between Cessna and Mountain State University assigns academic credit for the FAA certificates and ratings you earn. You can receive up to 50 hours of credit for your flight training. That's like receiving a scholarship from MSU for up to $12,250.

MSU offers three degrees under the Aviation banner: the Associate of Science in Aviation Technology, the Bachelor of Science in Aviation Leadership and Management or the Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership. All three degrees are available through distance learning at MSU via on-line delivery (for the BS in Organizational Leadership program) or Independent Study (for the AS in Aviation Technology and BS in Aviation Leadership degrees).

Westwind graduates who pursue an Embry-Riddle degree will receive up to 32 credits toward a bachelor degree. By completing your flight training at Westwind and receiving your degree through Embry-Riddle distance learning you can be on your way to your airline career in about half the time and at half the cost.

For more than 30 years, Embry Riddle's Extended Campus has been serving the needs of adult students by delivering courses and programs in two ways: online and through a network of more than 130 teaching centers in the United States and Europe.

Traditional face-to-face classes are scheduled one night a week or on weekends to accommodate the needs of students. The length and scheduling of terms vary by location. The online programs serve students whose schedules or geographic locations prevent them from attending regularly scheduled classes at a residential campus or teaching center. The programs support and connect students in a learning community through Web-based support groups, e-mail discussion forums, an online help desk, and online bookstores.

Many of our distance learners find the interaction with faculty and among students to be greater than in traditional classrooms. Extended Campus sites and programs are expanding continuously.

Contact us to locate the center closest to you or to find out how you can begin taking online classes quickly.
